1.==> Beyond the Wall: Corporate Profiteering from Immigration
For a different perspective on the issue of immigration interview Todd Miller, author of the just-released report “More than a Wall: Corporate Profiteering and the Militarization of U.S. Borders” from the Transnational Institute. He says, “When Donald Trump took office in 2017, at his disposal was the most massive border and immigration apparatus in United States history, built on turbocharge for 25 years, particularly over the three previous administrations. There were already 650 miles of walls and barriers, nearly 21,000 Border Patrol agents, more than 250 immigration detention prisons, and billions of dollars of deployed surveillance technology.” He adds, “It is true that Trump has ratcheted up and consolidated this apparatus — he’s taken it to its limits in every way imaginable, including its limits of cruelty — at the same time all his tools were already in place.” Miller will explain how the system is much bigger than any president: a complex of complicit administrations, politicians and policy makers of all stripes, and a surge of influential corporations ready to cash in with contracts. Miller has written on border and immigration issues for more than 15 years and resides in Tucson, Arizona. His most recent book is “Empire of Borders: The Expansion of the U.S. Border Around the World.” Contact him at toddmemomiller@gmail.com; @memomiller
2. ==> Congress is Back: Will they Give a Damn and Be Accountable?
Congress is back in session, but will they get anything done? Leadership expert Mark Lewis doubts it. “The reason Congress can’t get anything done is because of the label on each one of their backs. I frequently ask people what political party they’re affiliated with and no one wants to answer the question because they’re immediately labeled and put in a box. Any thinking outside of that box is ostracized; if a Democrat or a Republican even thinks about crossing the line and agreeing with a concept by the other side they’re viewed as a traitor.” Lewis has created a grass roots campaign and the American Accountability Pledge based on the premise of serving others, being kind, and showing gratitude. He says his goal is to get every member of Congress to sign-on, though currently, he’s finding it difficult to get any commitments. Mark Lewis is a business consultant, corporate growth expert and president of Communique LLC. He’s the author of “Give a Damn: The Ticket to Cultural Change.” Contact him at (504) 905-4646; mlewis@communiquellc.com or mlewis@giveadamnbook.com
3. ==> News & Doc EMMYs – NATAS President Adam Sharp
It’s TV award season. The prime-time EMMY Awards will be handed out Sunday in LA, but the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) will also honor TV news and documentary makers in New York next week including Andrea Mitchell, NBC News’ chief foreign affairs correspondent, who’ll receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for her 50-years covering domestic and international affairs. Invite NATAS president Adam Sharp to discuss the Daytime, News and Documentary EMMY nominees and why this year in particular, it’s important to honor the profession. “The clear, transparent, and factual reporting provided by these journalists and documentarians is paramount to keeping our nation and its citizens informed,” says Sharp. “Even while under attack, truth and the hard-fought pursuit of it must remain cherished, honored, and defended.” Adam Sharp is a noted expert on digital communications and marketing, political affairs and strategy, and issues related to “fake news” and misinformation. Interestingly, when he was hired by Twitter 20 years ago, his job was to advise journalists, news organizations, candidates and government officials. The goal was to one day have the President of the United States speaking directly to the people through Twitter. Contact Harlan Boll at h.boll@dcpublicity.com; (626) 296-3757.
4.==> Real Life Haunted House – Inside a Serial Killer’s Home
Fox Hollow Farm is the infamous Indiana property where Herb Baumeister is believed to have murdered at least eleven men. Invite the farm’s current owner Robert Graves and paranormal expert Richard Estep to discuss the case and explore the paranormal encounters that continue to this day. They’ll delve into the psyche of the suspected murderer and the terrifying supernatural activity that lingers, including chilling supernatural evidence, from EVPs and psychic confirmations to first-hand accounts of the disembodied hands and voices that regularly manifest on the estate. Since learning of his farm’s past, Robert Graves has devoted himself to understanding the tragic events that took place there. Richard Estep co-founded Boulder County Paranormal Research Society. Together they’ve written The Horrors of Fox Hollow Farm. Contact Kat Sanborn at (651) 312-8452; KatS@Llewellyn.com
5. ==> Don’t Blame the Booze! Drinking and Your Personality
According to a new study in Clinical Psychological Science, alcohol consumption may have less effect on personality than people commonly believe. Researchers found that people typically report a personality change between their sober and drunken state, yet observers watching from the outside notice less of a change, with the only exception being increased extraversion among drinkers. The idea that people’s personality alters when intoxicated is a popular one, but scientific evidence for this change is lacking and the science behind the concept of a “drunk personality” is unclear. Invite clinical psychologist John Huber, Ph.D., to discuss how alcohol might typically affect someone’s personality, whether belligerent drunks are actually mean and nasty, and how an alcohol-induced proclamation of love should be viewed. Dr. John Huber is the chairman for the non-profit Mainstream Mental Health. He’s appeared on over three hundred top tier radio shows and thirty national television programs. He’s also the host of Mainstream Mental Health Radio, heard nationwide featuring interviews with top mental health professionals. Contact Ryan McCormick at (516) 901-1103; (919) 377-1200.
6. ==> Why Next Year Could be the NFL’s Most Dangerous
The National Football League has been celebrating its 100-year run by looking back at its heyday. According to Nita Wiggins, who covered the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas for a decade, the NFL’s future glory is anything but assured. “We are facing a year of reckoning,” says Wiggins, who interviewed Hall of Fame players up-close and personal in their homes and who understands why up-and-coming stars are retiring–stars such as Andrew Luck. And, while players wrestle for control over their social media imaging and activism, the current labor contract is approaching its end after the 2020 season. Wiggins is a former boxing coach and judge and television reporter who now teaches journalism in Paris, France. She is the author of “Civil Rights Baby: My Story of Race, Sports, and Breaking Barriers in American Journalism.” Contact her at NWiggins@rtirguests.com
7. ==> China’s Hidden Danger to the U.S. Economy
One of the biggest threats the Chinese pose to the U.S. economy is through energy production. As Pat Cunnane will explain, while U.S. energy production has been hovering at 4 trillion kilowatts for years, the Chinese have been building energy ahead of demand and in five years could hit 10 trillion kilowatts. This is significant, he says, because energy is money. He can talk about what the U.S. can do to solve the climate change problem while having unlimited carbon-free energy and continuing to boast super wealth. Ask him: Can you explain why you believe your patented hydropower process will be a game-changer for the U.S. economy? How can we solve the U.S.-Chinese trade deficit problem? Cunnane is the author of “The Physics to Economics Model.” An experienced talk show guest, he has been a corporate asset manager for more than 30 years and recently presented on the Chinese energy topic at Kent State University. Contact him at (440) 666-5871; thephysicstoeconomicscorp@gmail.com
8. ==> Why People Are Dreaming about Donald Trump
On any given day, we are hearing about political controversies, big rallies (often with protesters!), White House staff news, campaign coverage and even Twitter outbursts that keep President Donald Trump in our minds. No wonder we’re awoken by dreams (nightmares??) of this polarizing leader and his presidency! Explore this epidemic of Trump-driven dreams when you interview Layne Dalfen — a sought- after dream analyst who will explain why Trump is someone who intrigues even our subconscious. Is this healthy? Are there lessons to be learned? Might this help Mr. Trump win (or lose) the 2020 election? Could other candidates literally capture our imaginations this way? What do callers’ Trump dreams mean? Arrange interviews with Layne at info@haveagreatdream.com
9. ==> Compulsive Habits, What’s Yours?
Whether you admit it or not, Michael McGee, M.D., believes you probably have an addiction or compulsive habit that controls your behavior and your choices. One out of three people is overtly addicted to something – like alcohol or drugs. But did you know that virtually two out of three people are covertly addicted to something – and they may not even realize it? Subtle behaviors like gossiping, judging others, people pleasing, shopping and working can all be compulsive. Interview Dr. McGee about the science of habit and his “Good now, Bad later” philosophy to help your audience figure out their own compulsive habits and what to do about them! Dr. Michael McGee trained at Stanford and Harvard Medical Schools. The author of “The Joy of Recovery: The New 12 Step Guide to Recovery from Addiction” has helped hundreds of patients beat addiction. Contact him at (978) 971-9703; MMcGee@rtirguests.com
10. ==> Are You a Stressed Mess? This M.D. Has the Cure
Stress really can kill you. According to Steven M. Hall, M.D., “Fifty percent of the U.S. population is experiencing one or more stress-related diseases. What society is doing to mitigate the adverse health effects of stress isn’t working.” Dr. Steven has discovered a solution to enable us to become impervious to the stressors in our lives. And it does not involve repressing any emotions; quite the opposite. His online class Taming the Bear: Taking the Bite Out of Stress is having phenomenal success in people’s lives, and he can share how to get off of the vicious stress cycle for good. 11. ==> What You Need to Know About Medical Bullying
Medical professionals are supposed to save lives not ruin them. But according to Sharon Bahrych (pronounced Bear-rich), a 30-year-career physician assistant, medicine has a dirty little secret: bullying is commonplace and counterproductive to patient safety. Nurses bully other nurses, physician assistants, and medical residents are bullied by their attending physicians, and people in the profession are strongly advised to put up with physical assaults, verbal abuse, intimidation and more. Whistleblowing gets people fired. Sharon, who plans a TEDx talk on the subject, can share some of the incidents of bullying that have happened to her. She can also discuss ways the medical culture is slowly changing for the better and five things that can be done to accelerate that process. Sharon is a physician’s assistant who trained at Baylor College of Medicine. She has a master’s in public health from the University of Texas School of Public Health. Contact her at (720) 669-8098; SBahrych@rtirguests.com
12. ==> This M.D. Can Cure Opioid Addiction without Drugs
As the opioid crisis has reached epidemic proportions, health professionals primarily rely on drugs such as methadone to cure addiction. But Dr. Isaac Alexis says that there are other, natural ways to overcome addiction, which focus on the whole person. “It’s not just about treating addicts,” he says. “It’s about treating their environments and families.” He can also share natural and over-the-counter remedies that can expedite the healing process. Dr. Isaac completed an internship in trauma surgery at Cornell University at New York Hospital of Queens. He served as medical director at the Department of Justice as well as director of infection control and chair of the quality improvement medical committee. He is the author of “Life and Death behind the Brick and Razor-Code Red Diamond” and the upcoming “The Seductive Pink Crystal.” Contact Isaac at IAlexis@rtirguests.com; (315) 935-6348.
13. ==> Revelations of an Undertaker’s Daughter
Most people don’t like to talk or even think about death. But while growing up in a Midwestern funeral home where her dad was an undertaker, Margo Lenmark learned a lot about life from dead people. “I can share fascinating experiences of growing up around death and dead people, and the messages I received from them,” she says. “I have a lot to say about death and gifts people give when they die.” Margo can reveal her journeys to the other side, experiences she had in dreams and the important messages she received about life from the deceased. She is the author of “Light in the Mourning: Memoirs of an Undertaker’s Daughter,” which has received glowing reviews from a number of prominent authors and spiritual leaders including Deepak Chopra. 14. ==> Trash or Treasure? Avoid Flea Market Rip Offs
It’s flea market season and while finding treasures amid the trash can feel exhilarating, too many times people wind up hauling home fakes and frauds instead of true flea market gold! Invite Patty Penke to share tips to help treasure hunters spot a good value and negotiate the best deal. You’ll learn what to avoid completely, how to check a piece’s value while shopping and when to talk away from a deal. And like in most things, she says, “A good rule of thumb for flea market treasure hunters: If the price is too good to be true – It is!” Patty Penke is CEO of Assisting Hands Estate Sales Services Inc. and the author of “Stop Throwing Cash in the Trash: Your Guidebook to Finding Hidden Treasures and Transforming Them into Huge Profits.” Contact her at (402) 592-8806; penkepatty@hotmail.com
15. ==> How to Dump Your Negative Parents, Friends and Family
We all have them – those parents, friends and relations who do nothing but criticize, complain about anything and everything and make us feel small and undeserving. Well, it’s time to call them out on their negativity, start a dialog and if that doesn’t work, take a break or walk away from that relationship. Annie Evans believes that if you don’t deal with them, there’s a really good chance you’ll turn out just like them. Evans personally knows how negativity breeds negativity. Combined with some serious life challenges, she went on her own downward spiral. Being raised by a severely mentally-ill mom and losing two life partners is just the tip of the iceberg. Evans will share her startling story, and help listeners learn real strategies to change their mindsets, interactions and take charge of their attitudes. Contact her at aevans@rtirguests.com or (310) 621-0456.
16. ==> Why Kids Should Make Up their Own Homework… and Other Ways to Have a ‘Perfect School’
Every September kindergartners start school and love it. So why is it that every year after that more and more students hate school – until high school when only a few are left who actually love coming to school and love learning? This problem is easier to fix than you think! “There are so many ways to create a perfect school,” says Lee Jenkins, a career educator with a passion for improving student learning in school. “From giving students choice in how to do homework to creating a team feel in every classroom, where they are more interested in outperforming their own best work instead of competing with each other… it works! And it works FAST!” In fact, teachers using Lee’s method are seeing an increase in classroom learning by six times the national average! The key is for students to be in an environment where they both work hard and love their learning. Lee Jenkins is the author of “How to Create a Perfect School,” foreword by Jack Canfield, and while he speaks primarily to educators his message to parents is essential. Lee has been an educator and administrator both in public schools and universities. Contact him at (484) 306-8784; LJenkins@rtirguests.com
