1.==> Overcome With Post-Election Emotions?
A majority of Americans were stressed before Election Day, and now post-election, emotions are still running high for many across the country. Experts say Americans with varying political views may be overcome with emotion in the wake of the election results, from pride and optimism to disappointment, frustration and even fear. For many, these strong emotions reflect the heightened stakes of what has been called one of the most important elections in U.S. history, as people contemplate what the results mean for their values, communities and hopes for the future. Psychiatrist Melvyn Lurie can help explain why people take it so personally when their candidate doesn’t win. The author of “The Biology of Politics” says more is going on than you realize. He’ll discuss the many hidden drives that are a fundamental part of our nature and help your audience learn how to discuss and debate politics (or anything) with family and friends without resorting to anger, rage or name-calling. Dr. Lurie is an honors graduate of Harvard Medical School. He has practiced and taught medical students at Harvard and Tufts, has served as an expert witness, managed political campaigns and once even ran for political office. 2. ==> Americans Will Regret Handing the Keys to Trump
Donald Trump is now set to return to the White House, and he’s made no secret of his lofty goals for a second term: gutting the civil service, destroying the independence of the Justice Department and seeking political and legal revenge on his lengthy list of personal enemies. Democratic strategist Max Burns says that judging by Tuesday’s election returns, a majority of Americans are eager to see Trump do exactly that. However you feel about the election results he says, “It matters that Trump won his office in a free and fair election. It matters that free people voluntarily chose to cloak Trump in power he will almost certainly abuse in far-reaching and destructive ways. Our country made the choice to walk down the dark path of Trump’s resentments and conspiracies,” he says, adding, “We will come to regret it.” Max Burns is a veteran Democratic strategist and founder of Third Degree Strategies. Women’s reproductive rights were a hot topic during the 2024 campaign and after this week’s election, it seems likely that more states—and possibly the entire nation—will see abortion restrictions and bans. The pro-life movement is focused on the well-being of the unborn, but Dr. Shila Patel says these laws have grave consequences for women and infants. “Women are dying in states with extreme abortion laws because they are being denied critical care for miscarriages, and the infant mortality rate has increased during the last 18 months,” she says.
